It is my mission to:

• Cultivate a safe, welcoming environment.

• Inspire a love of reading and a desire for knowledge.

• Provide excellent, quality resources to students, teachers, and the entire learning community.

• Equip students and staff with information and technology literacy skills.

• Promote the value of being a life-long learner.

• Empower change and innovation in students and staff.

 

Why I teach:

• Passionate about the value of education, knowledge, and life long learning.

• Genuinely interested in students' academic and personal growth.

• Desire to close the technology and information literacy gap and arm our young people with the skills to be successful members of society.

 

How I teach:

• Lessons designed using differentiated instruction to include various, if not all learning styles in each lesson.

• Cultivate a welcoming environment using positive reinforcement where all feel comfortable learning, inquiring, and discovering.

• Engage students in the learning process by making the content relevant and interesting to students.

• Continually assess learning to improve my teaching.

• Collaborate with other educators and work as a team.

 

What I teach includes. . .

• Information & Media Literacy - [the ability to find, use, and create quality information] Help students to develop higher level critical thinking skills, preparing students to be responsible, ethical, well informed, independent users and creators of information, and confident members of society.

• Technology Literacy - the ability to use computers, media production equipment, and web 2.0 technologies.

• Reading skills based on a love of reading and a curiosity for learning.
